In winter, it's not one thick jumper that keeps you warm, but several layers that work well together. The principle is simple: a soft base, a warming middle and a layer on top that you put on or take off depending on the weather.
The layering principle in three steps
- Base: a close-fitting shirt or long-sleeve top in organic cotton or TENCEL™ Modal. It feels comfortable on the skin and absorbs moisture well.
- Middle: organic cotton knitwear, a roll neck or a cardigan. This layer holds the warmth.
- Outer: a coat or jacket, plus a hat and scarf. These are the pieces you quickly take off indoors.
Air stays between the layers, and that air insulates. That's why you're often warmer in three thinner layers than in one thick one.

Look 1 · City and office
Roll neck under a long cardigan
A black roll-neck jumper is the calmest middle layer there is. On top, a long open cardigan, plus jeans and boots. At the office you take off your coat and are still appropriately dressed. On mild days, the roll neck even replaces a scarf.

Look 2 · Men at the weekend
V-neck with a shirt underneath
With a V-neck jumper, the base layer can show: a white T-shirt or long-sleeve top creates a clean edge. Add dark jeans and a knitted hat. The beanie is made from organic merino wool and organic cotton. As a wool product, it is not vegan.

Look 3 · At home
Waffle knit for long evenings
For Sundays on the sofa: a waffle-textured hoodie over a tank top, with loose joggers. The texture of the fabric holds air and feels soft. For a quick trip to the bakery, just throw your coat on top.
Tips for knitwear in winter
- Air instead of washing: knitwear and wool rarely need washing. It's often enough to hang the jumper in the fresh air overnight.
- Dry flat: wet knitwear stretches on a hanger. Lay it flat on a towel.
- Store folded: jumpers belong on a shelf, not on a hanger.
- Repair small damage: a loose thread or a missing button is quickly fixed before it turns into a hole.

FAQ
Is organic cotton warm enough for winter?
As a dense knit or layered, yes. Cotton is breathable, so you don't start sweating as quickly in heated rooms as you would in purely synthetic fabrics.
What should I wear under an itchy jumper?
A thin long-sleeve top or crew-neck T-shirt. That way the knit barely touches your skin, and you can wash the base layer more often than the jumper.
