Organic Cotton
Organic Cotton at ORGANICATION

What makes organic cotton special
1. Organic farming
Organic cotton is grown according to the rules of organic farming – without synthetic pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
2. Non-GMO
Only non-genetically modified seed is used for cultivation.
3. Soil care
Crop rotation and mixed cropping are intended to maintain soil fertility in the long term.
4. Certified
Depending on the product, our organic cotton items are certified to GOTS or OCS – you will find this information on each product page.
5. Traceability
GOTS and OCS require complete documentation of the organic fibres from cultivation to the finished product, verified by independent bodies.
6. Comfort
Organic cotton is soft, breathable and absorbent – ideal for clothes you wear every day.
Why organic cotton?
Cotton is one of the most widely used natural fibres in the world: tear-resistant, breathable and absorbent. However, conventional cotton farming is considered resource-intensive and is often associated with heavy use of pesticides and fertilisers. Organic farming does without synthetic pesticides and synthetic fertilisers; instead, farmers use methods such as crop rotation and mixed cropping.
Our approach
For many of our cotton items, we rely on organic cotton from certified sources. Depending on the item, the products are certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or the Organic Content Standard (OCS). You can see which standard applies and how high the organic content is in the material details and under “Production Details” on each product page. Find out more about the standards on our Certificates page.
The role of consumers
By buying certified organic cotton products, you support demand for organically grown cotton. We want to help you make an informed choice with clear information on materials and certification.
