Code of Conduct

ORGANICATION editorial teamUpdated: 17.10.20264 min read

This code of conduct sets out what we expect of ourselves and of every company involved in making our clothes. It is a commitment and a requirement, not an audit report. Where we can check things and where we cannot is explained below.

In short

  • It is based on the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
  • Cutting, sewing, pressing and packing take place at Akçakaya Tekstil in Izmir.
  • Yarn, fabrics and dyeing come from other companies. We do not inspect those stages ourselves.
  • Reports of violations can be sent to info@organication.de.

Working conditions

We expect every company in our supply chain to ensure:

  • no child labour and no forced labour of any kind,
  • no discrimination, for example on the basis of origin, gender, religion, age or disability,
  • the right to organise and to bargain collectively,
  • at least the legal minimum wage, paid overtime and written employment contracts,
  • working hours within legal limits and one day off per week,
  • safe workplaces: fire safety, escape routes, protective equipment and first aid.

We cannot currently guarantee a living wage at every stage of the supply chain. We would rather say so honestly than promise it.

Environment and chemicals

Our partners must comply with the environmental laws of their country, especially regarding wastewater, waste and emissions. As for chemicals, our products must meet the requirements of the EU chemicals regulation REACH.

For GOTS- or OCS-certified items, the rules of those standards also apply and are checked by independent bodies. Which certification applies to an item is shown on its product page.

Animals

We only use wool that is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which rules out mulesing. More on our Planet & People & Animals page.

Fair business conduct

We reject bribery, extortion and fraud, as well as gifts or favours intended to influence decisions, and we expect the same of our partners. We handle customer data in line with the GDPR; details are in our privacy policy.

How we put it into practice

Our production partner Akçakaya Tekstil in Izmir handles cutting, sewing, pressing and packing. We are there regularly and know the processes first-hand.

We buy our fabrics ready-made. Spinning, knitting or weaving, and dyeing are done by other companies that we do not inspect ourselves. For certified items, these stages are checked independently under the relevant standard.

If a partner breaches this code, we raise it and agree what will change and by when. If that does not happen, we end the partnership.

Reports and complaints

Anyone who sees a violation, whether employees, partners or customers, can write to us at info@organication.de. Every report is treated confidentially, and no one who reports something in good faith will be disadvantaged.

FAQ

Do you publish a list of all suppliers?

Not at the moment. This page names our sewing partner. We are happy to answer questions about a specific product by email.

Is this code audited?

For certified items, independent bodies check compliance with the relevant standard. Beyond that, this code is not externally audited.

How often is the code updated?

Whenever laws, standards or our supply chain change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
